Our Vision

Over the past several years we have seen a massive increase in the number of dogs and cats that have come into our care. We have come to realize that we need to expand our Vision to meet the growing needs of our growing county.

Our Board of Directors is ready to rise to the challenge and has a huge Vision for the future of the Logan County Humane Society.

New Adoption Center

The number of animals being taken into shelters across the country has skyrocketed in the last two years – at the end of 2023 there were over a quarter million more pets in shelters than there had been at that time the year before. Logan County is no exception. To properly serve our area we need to build a new Adoption Center that is capable of appropriately caring for the rapidly growing number of dogs and cats that come into our facility. In 2024 we will be starting a major push to raise the funds to purchase property and build an Adoption Center that will have the space and facilities to take proper care of Logan’s dogs and cats.

Spay-Neuter Clinic

A huge reason for the massively expanding population of shelter pets is the lack of affordable spay-neuter in Logan County. Without our own Spay-Neuter clinic we are at the mercy of space becoming available at the clinics of surrounding counties. Logan County NEEDS a Spay-Neuter Clinic and the LCHS is committed to seeing one built.

Crisis Center

All too often we seen dogs and cats surrendered because their people are going through a crisis. Whether it’s a lost job, a lost home, a stay in hospital or rehab, a severe budget crisis… we see families going through a painful time who feel forced to give up their family pet. Our goal is to create a new Crisis Center that can support people through these difficult times and find ways to keep pets in the home with the families they know and love. Through long-term fosters, pet food pantries, low-cost vet care and other crisis services we strive to keep pets in the home and out of the shelter, for the benefit of all concerned.

Education Services

Many times dogs and cats end up coming into the shelter because of behavior issues that are easily solved. By establishing new education programs, training services and support we will work to assist families with problems they may encounter transitioning a new pet into their family, and keep that pet from coming back into the shelter.
